This site in geared toward the US market, but would suit anyone with no prior knowledge of the language. Since Irish is a very different language from English (and most other languages too), it is important that the true beginner have access to a course that really starts at the beginning. BitSize Irish Gaelic is such a course.
There is a set of lessons on-line, the first of which is free. The lessons are organised logically.

There is another site, geared more towards the Irish market, being run by Gaelchultúr, which is based in Dublin. They also have well-organised on-line courses.
Gaelchultúr have a new course, Gaeilge gan Stró! – Beginners Level, that has been developed with absolute beginners in mind, as well as another, Gramadach gan Stró!, which is directed at people who have fluent Irish but who wish to improve their grammar skills. It is now on its third edition!

We have heard recently that Irish will be one of the languages offered on Duolingo. It’s not there yet, but it will be.
